Screening of “The Plastic Cow” at NIIT Foundation, Gurgaon

Sep 09, 2016 @ 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM NIIT Foundation, DLF Phase - 3, Gurgaon

STRAW India as part of it outreach programs to promote awareness about animal welfare and environmental preservation, screened a 34-minutes documentary film titled, “the Plastic Cow,” for the benefit of students of the National Institute of InformationTechnology (NIIT), Gurgaon. This was done in association with NSS - IITD. The screening was followed by a discussion and Q & A session.

About 25 adolescent students who have graduated from school and are being trained in computer literacy and spoken English became aware of the unholy alliance that exists between plastic bags, our careless disposal of it and its effects on the poor innocent cow, which is worshipped as “mother” by most people in India.

This film also includes a Rheumotology surgery in which about 55 kgs of plastic is removed from the stomach of a cow that had been suffering a lot of pain and was unable to eat any food.

Upon seeing this film, we hope the students make sure to dispose of their own individual plastic waste in such a way that it goes for recycling and does not come into garbage dumps where it has damaging effects on the environment.
